well i dont know whether i’d say it’s ‘better’ but it’s definitely not far off and atleast now they have the option of improving their circumstance by choosing to adopt western culture.

For anyone who thinks Aboriginal life prior to white settlement was better, i’d like to direct you to the array of medical problems they suffered, in particular the dangers of impure drinking water and? unassisted childbirth

@types10000 to counteract your point, about obtaining benefits of western society, through assimilation of western culture.. look at Japan. We assimilated the British and American political system, the German and Italian industrial theories, modernized the? nation from a feudal system to a industrialized state in 20 years. We absorbed western modernism after the war, we were occupied by the west, and here we are, we have same cultural heritage, with all the benefits, without the western defects.

- the bulk of the water on this planet is poisonous salt water. The second highest percentage of water has been infected with some kind? of detrimental bacteria. The actual percentage of non-artificial clean drinking water is quite low

- the death rates of mother/child in child birth undertaken without modern medicine are insane.

Western society didnt do either of THESE things.

- incorrect, you absorbed western culture in it’s entirety, the defects themselves are subject to individual implementations.

I doubt you could name a single defect you think you’ve? avoided that another more ‘traditional’ western nation also hasnt

@Sven2Perroy ‘sniffers’ represent? a very small part of the wider Aboriginal community- it’s overrepresented in the media and more an indication of social and political negligence than cultural practices.
